The process of “Blaudruck” indigo blue-dying in a vat is still alive in Hungary, Slovakia, Autria and Germany. The up to 300 – year-old pattern are either made from wood (pear tree or boxwood) or brass bars. Many workshops have cosidereable collections of motifs and patterns. Sice 2016 the craft, called “Kekfesto” in Hungary, is listed as Unesco intangible cultural heritage. In Germany there is the saying: “Du wirst dein blaues Wunder erleben!”, literally:”you will experience your blue woder”, meaning: You don’t know what to expect.

But here you can expect wonderful tablecloths printed by hand on old linen fabrics.
