Frazada from Peru

340,00 incl. VAT

Before the Spaniards began their ruthless colonization, they had only alpaca and llama wool in South America. With the european sheeps and their wool the technique of knitting came into the South American highlands. Until today the men and women of the Quechua and Aymara knit with an incomprehensible precession.

The Frazadas were used as warm blankets against the cold, as sleeping blanket for the night and as a kind of picnic blanket for having a rest during the daytime field work.

Handwoven, 100 % Sheepwool, IV quarter 20th century or older
