Hand stiched hungarian tablecloth from the northwestern region of Transsilvania, Kalotaszeg. The region is famous for their beautifully enriched art. One of the most famous composer of our time is Belá Bartók whose collection of hungarian folk art from Transyilvana can be admired at the ethnological museum in Budapest. The stichings from Kalotaszeg are made normaly in chain stich, they called irásos, written embroidery. They are monochrom, usually in red, white and blue. The love for geometrical designs demonstrate the strong influence of Rumanian art. The lovely ladies of Kalotaszeg, who still master the art of stiching at their homes also like the more playful motives of Hungarian designs.
