This cushion is made from old trousers of the Dzao people from northern vietnam. The Yao are indigenous people who live in the north of Vietnam,  Laos, and Thailand as well as in the South of China. This is where they originally come from areas such as Guanxi, Hunan and Guangdong.

The trousers were always the pride of the women, on whom they were able to display their skills. They are handwoven, but the small motifs are often embroidered on afterwards. The embroideries are rows of motifs symbolizing rice plants, trees and children. And many other symbols of course.
