Satined, quilted indigo jacket of the Dong, Guizhou, South China


This jacket is from Zhaoxing, the largest village of the Dong, which is located in the southeast of Guizhou province. The Dong are a group that lives in the southern Chinese provinces of Guizhou, Hainan and Guangxi. Their are with indigo dyed fabric, embroidery and weaving are legendary. This is a typical men’s jacket with stand-up collar and typical Chinese toggle closures. It is designed for the colder days of life and is therefore fed with cotton.

Indigo hand-dyed and satined cotton. Outside hand satined, inside plain cotton, hand stitched
