Big plate from Nocrich, Transylvania, Romania

90,00 incl. VAT

This hand crafted plate comes from Nocrich, a commune in Sibiu County, Romania, in the region of Transylvania. Nocrich is famous for its pottery and ceramics. The former communities of Transylvanian Saxons who used to live here in large numbers of up to 300.000 people and cultivated the design and production of these pieces have left this region a long time ago but now are slowly migrating back. at last after the end of the end of the Ceausescu regime and the fall of the communist block. With the help of the Foundation Adept the craftsmanship of ceramics is being reintroduced and nourished. This is fortunate and we are now able to bring these beautiful technics and designs back to life.

The plate is around 31 cm in diameter. Made from old samples from the 17/18th century, but with new dating of 2021
